Accuracy and use of data
Whilst Heneb: the Trust for Welsh Archaeology make every reasonable attempt to maintain the accuracy of Historic Environment Record (HER) data provided through Archwilio, it does not provide any guarantees to users as to the accuracy of any information contained within it. The data on the website are compiled from diverse sources on an ongoing basis. Information provided through Archwilio is therefore not a definitive source but reflects the records of Heneb: the trust for Welsh Archaeology on the date that they were last updated. In particular, many of the sites recorded on the database have not been visited in the field or otherwise verified as being true and accurate records. As such, the information on this website is not suitable for use in the planning process, or in producing agreements for agri-environment or other land management schemes. For up-to-date information, please contact Heneb HER staff directly. It will therefore often be necessary to call upon the services of an experienced archaeologist to gauge the full significance of particular sites listed in the records.
Please bear in mind that information about legally protected sites on this website is not definitive. If in doubt please contact Cadw for definitive information and guidance.

The Archwilio Website
The Archwilio website was originally developed in 2009-10 by the former Welsh Archaeological Trusts to enable public access to the information contained within the Historic Environment Records. The site was further improved in 2017, when the statutory requirement for Welsh Ministers to maintain and make available a Historic Environment Record was fulfilled by the former Welsh Archaeological Trusts through Archwilio. In 2022 the former Trusts took the decision to update the site, assisted by financial grant aid from Cadw. The appearance of the site has been refreshed, and its search functions have been improved, with a focus on security, accessibility and user experience. The Intellectual Property Rights of the Archwilio brand remain with Heneb: the Trust for Welsh Archaeology.
