Description :
Fe sheeting, curving with large rivets. Sheeting has large hole (possible damage to hull) associated with long Fe shaft, very corroded, possibly incorporates a chain.

The Henry Bell was built in Kilmarnock circa 1856, sister ship to the James Watt. They were steam colliers with a derick that worked the Clyde, unloading larger ships of coal and taking it to Glasgow over a period of circa 40 years. It was purchased by a Swansea man who used it in the Gower-Llanelli area until it was wrecked in a storm in January 1904. The ships register suggests the wreck was cleared, but the lower front of the hull, firebox and boilers remain. (Huckfield 2017, note in FI file)
