Summary :
The Munitions Factory was opened in 1937 in the lead up to the Second World War in order to manufacture quick firing ammunition.

Description :
The Munitions Factory was opened in 1937 in the lead up to the Second World War in order to manufacture quick firing ammunition. It was built over the top of the Upper Bank smelting works (02642w), significancy changing the site, as shown on the OS map of 1949. the north of the site was occupied by a large rectangular building labelled 'Factory (metal fitting); the south was labelled 'Middle Bank Copper Works'.

Two plans of the factory survive, one from March 1938 titled 'Swansea Q.F. Factory: Upper Bank Works Site Plan', and July 1945, 'Swansea Crane Layout'. The only structures relating to the munitions factory of 1937 were a double row of concrete stanchion bases and a service duct (10273-74w).
