Description :
The site of Hafod Copper Works Rolling Mill No. I, lying to the south east of the Musgrave Engine House (02427w), shown in outline on historic maps and in detail on site maps from circa. 1928 and 1943. The mill is to the east of the Hafod site, at its lowest level on the west bank of the River Tawe.

The mill was originally established in 1818. The extant details are directly associated with, and were powered by, the later Musgrave Engine House. They include a 30m length of concrete flooring, the southern part of the roll train with two pairs of rollers and standards, the bearers for the northern roll train and impressions of the bases of reheating furnaces from 1910.

Fuller details may be found in the report: The Yorkshire Imperial Metals Site: A Site Appraisal (N Ludlow, 2002).

Running along the westernmost side of the building were a corresponding series of annealing furnaces, and it appears that sections of copper were placed within these furnaces immediately prior to being fed into their corresponding set of rolls (Morgan & Wooten-Brooks 2022).
