Rolling mill and forge added to the Neath Abbey Ironworks c1825. Originally an open arcaded building. 5 round headed arches (blocked). Interesting cast iron and wrought iron queen strut roof. Floor inserted in 19th century, supported on cast iron stanchions. SW elevation originally had an open arcade along the ground floor, since blocked and windows inserted. The source of power was a waterwheel on the E side of the building.

Description :
The rolling-mill and forge of the Neath Abbey Ironworks, constructed 275m upstream of the blast furnaces and on the opposite (east) bank of the River Clydach. A weir immediately upstream provided a head of water for the wheel on the eastern side of the building that drove the machinery.

The surviving remains consist of a building with a datestone of 1825 over the door in the southeast (gable) wall. It is constructed in stone, and originally had an open arcade along the southwest side. The southeast gable had three circular windows over the door. The roof was supported on cast-iron trusses.

Later modifications were the blocking of the arcade, with windows in the blocking, an inserted upper floor and pebbledash render. The building was used latterly as the Neath Abbey Woollen Mill (PRN 01869).
