Description :
Pilgrimage site including chapel with burial ground (ST00239462), well (Ffynnon Fair; PRN 00937m at ST00079455), and hostelry, belonging to the Cistercian abbey of Llantarnam (Williams 2001, 148-9 305 no.80). Williams (2001, 305) lists it as 'pilgrimage chapel and well; cell attracted settlers'; no evidence that it was a grange as normally understood (OS card ST 09 SW 3); not given as a grange by RCAHMW 1982. Plans in Archaeologia Cambrensis 1914, reproduced Williams 2001, 148 figs 59-60. Evans 2003: GGAT 73 Early-Medieval Ecclesiastical Sites Project database.

However Procter (2018) does list a site in this area as 'An upland grange and later manor, becoming an important pilgrimage destination and source of income in the later monastic period'. Associated with Llantarnam Abbey.
