Description :
One of a pair of cairns (PRN 4552m). It is difficult to determine whether this badly disturbed monument is a cairn or a ring cairn. It seems taller in relation to its diameter than normal for a ring cairn. The centre is scooped out (to below ground level outside) and contains a number of sandstone slabs in the region of 0.8m across lying in the centre. The surrounding earthwork is grass-covered and has a possible break at the W side. Approx 45m from the other cairn of the pair (PRN 563m). Dimensions: 5.5m diam, c 0.4m high
(1956) A grass- and turf-covered cairn with a scooped-out top. Has a diameter of 6.0m and a height of 0.4m. (Source 01)
(1966/1976) On level ground; bracken-grown and in poor condition. A ring-cairn 8.2m in diameter, defined by a low spread bank. No stones are visible. (Source 02)
(1979) The cairn, situated in pasture on a ridge-top, is generally as described by RCAHMW, except that it contains several large slabs (a situation which pertained in 1956) (Source 03)
(1985) (1) has a bank 0.5m high, 1m wide of turf, with some stones protruding and with a gap on the NW side. There are some large stones in the middle. (Source 04)
