Description :
An oval cairn with an irregular perimeter and a disturbed interior. The site is constructed mainly from cobble and boulder sized stone (sandstone). Some larger boulders help to define the irregular perimeter and could be possible kerb stones. The cairn utilises a natural outcrop to define its northern extremity. The cist, which was described by OS fieldworkers in 1975 as 1.4m long with an average width of 0.7m and a depth of 0.9m, survived to 1996 when the measured survey was made, but is no longer visible. However a collection of iregularly shaped stones appear to define its location. Directly NE and abutting the cairn is a curious sub-circular structure of regularly laid cobble and boulder sized stones which is most likely a sheepfold. Directly 0.5m south of 01776g is a circular cairn 6m x 6m standing 0.4m high with an interior cut down to the natural ground leve; this cairn, unlike 1776g, has a more modern and temporary appearance to its construction.
Dimensions: diameter 24m (max); height 2m
(1957) An irregular patch of surface stones with an average diameter of 12m. There has been some modern cairn building in the area. (Source 01 )

(1975) c.550m OD, on the NE edge of the Blorenge Mountain inside an extensive limestone exposure, c.500m NE of SO 26981185 is an area of boulders, 5.5m in diameter, which look selected, compared with the rest of the exposure, which may be part of a former cairn. (Source 02)

(Originally sourced for 01774g but obviously belonging to 01776g)
(1957) The cairn has a diameter of 15m and a maximum height of 2m. The cist is in the NE of the cairn and is 3m from the outer edge. It is orientated NW-SE and has internal measurements of 1.4m long with an average width of 0.7m. It is 0.9m deep and is lined with flat stone slabs. At the E end is an irreguarly shaped cap-stone. It has the average mesurements of 1.5m by 1.1m and is 0.3m thick. A roughly circular sheepfold with dry-stone walling has been constructed to the NE of the cairn. (Source 05)

(1975) At c.555m OD, on common land on the summit of Blorenge mountain, a limestone outcrop with a SW-NE orientation, looking much like a ramp, with wide views all around; a large conical mound, much interfered with and crowned by two small pyramids. The visible cist was opened in 1873 by a group of antiquaries, but no more details were given. Roughly 14.5m in diameter at a height of c.1.8m. (Source 01)
