Summary :
Folly Tower once stood overlooking Pontypool and Gwent, and the precise date of the site itself is not known. Local legend states that it stood where a Roman Watch Tower once stood as a Roman Road is thought to have ran from Llanhilleth near the folly. The tower itself was constructed in the 18th century by the Hanbury family of Park House, Pontypool. It was demolished in 1940 and rebuilt in 1994 (Croft Pontypool 1994).
