Summary : Early medieval D site, ie. possible early medieval origins. Large iron age hillfort, PRN 3307, re-used in the Middle Ages as Symon's Castle (PRN 3308). It was also the site of a medieval chapelry, PRN 3310. St Leonard's Well (PRN 3311) lay immediately W. The siting of the medieval chapel suggests that burial may have begun in the hillfort ditch during the early medieval period. NDL 2003
Description : The possibility of this site, a hill fort 3307 later adapted as a Motte and Bailey 3308 being in use as an early Christian enclosed religious site is suggested by the adjacent chapel + cemetery 3310 + holy well 3311.
