Summary :
On the 1888 map the feature is marked as "Limekiln" and on the 1905 map it is marked as "Old Limekiln". Not marked on 1964 6" map. The kiln is set into a boulder clay deposit. It is D-shaped. The boulder clay has been cut back and recutted either side of the kiln allowing access to the top for surveying the kilns. The recutment is contemporary with the kiln. There is access to the top from a road also. It has triangular headed drawing holes with eyes. There are traces of ? to the eastern recuttment. The top is totally overgrown. GW. 1995.

Description :
THE KILN IS LOCATED AT THE BOTTOM OF A NORTH-FACING SLOPE ABOVE THE HIGH TIDE MARK ON A BENCH OF THE COVE. IT IS SITUATED AT THE END OF THE ROAD LEADING TO ABERFFOREST MARINA AND NEXT TO THE SLIPWAY FOR BOATS. THE PC PATH RUNS ADJACENT TO THE TOP OF THE KILN. ^^The kiln is constructed of slabs and stones of local rock with a lime mortar. The drawing arches are small and of the Dewisland shape, although the lintel is not of a special size. It is impossible to determine if the crucible is in tact because of the luxuriant growth of brambles on the top of the kiln. The mortar has eroded away from the exterior intensities of the kiln, for the most part. The mortar is still present within the drawing arches. Retaining walls are present to the east and west of the kiln along the bank face. A few codes are missing from the exterior of the kiln and the mortar has eroded from the exterior of the kiln. Abundant vegetation is present on top of and around the retaining walls and is growing within the drawing arches and on the exterior of the kiln. Brown 1997
