Berthen Farm

Description : Lead (19th century)
Geology Carboniferous Limestone.
Workings The Old Pantynef Vein ran south as far as Berthen Farm (Smith 1921). Shafts remain in the vicinity of the farm and Berthen Covert. To the west and in the fields across the road from Pentre Farm, shafts are distinguishable at SJ16807170 (two shafts) and SJ16907170, probably the workings of the Tyddyn Shepherd Mine. To the north, and across the road from Berthen Farm, shaft-mounds are discernable in the fields below Plas Captain.
