Description : Lead/Silver (1871)
Geology Carboniferous limestone with chert beds.
Workings The Ashton Mine worked the Bryniau cross-course vein in the area immediately to the north-west of Capel Saron, Brynford. The site is now partly under pasture, partly occupied by housing and cut to the north-west by the A55. Evidence remains only as shaft mounds, which run in a north-easterly direction to be cut by the A55.
