Description : Lead (19th century)
Geology Carboniferous Limestone.
Workings A large shaft at SJ18936899 is connected to a stone-built structure, having two large wheelpits and a platform area.
The shaft and associated structures form an isolated area of working. The workings lay on the Fron Vein and shafts along the same vein to the west of the main area may be hidden in the woodland at SJ18706885.
Transport No evidence.
Power There is no evidence to suggest the source of power for the wheelpit structure.
Processing The stonework remains of two ore bins can be traced alongside the large shaft. Any evidence of a dressing floor has been heavily trampled on by cattle and only waste remains.
Other features The stonework walls of a possible mine office or dwelling stand to the west of the shaft. A small stone built rectangular building has been adapted for cattle shelter.
