Summary :
The Llwyncelyn Farmstead is a late Medieval Farmstead of dispersed plan type, with a 15th century, identified as part of GGAT and Cadw's Historic Farmsteads project, visible on 2nd Edition OS mapping, consisting of a 15th century farmhouse and several farm buildings, ranging in date from the 17th to the 20th century.

Description :
The Llwyncelyn Farmstead is a late Medieval Farmstead of dispersed plan type, with a 15th century, Grade I listed hall house at its focal point (01613g). In addition, to the house, the Farmstead comprised several farm buildings, ranging in date from the 17th to the 20th century (though the most recent buildings have been removed during the 2014 restoration programme). These buildings were identified by aerial photography taken sometime in the early 1970s:

The Farmhouse Hall Range, Solar Range, and Kitchen Wing (01613g), Infill/Malt Kiln (16200g), Cider House (16201g), Lean-to (16202g), Stables (16203g), Beast House (16199g), Shelter Shed (16204g), Piggery (16205g), Corn Drier (16206g), Threshing Barn and extensions (16207g), and the Granary (16208g).

(Morriss 2020)

The Farmstead was known by the name Llwyn Celyn since at least 1597 and was home to the well-established Watkins and George families until the late 18th century. It is part of Cwmyoy Manor (12302g) and associated with Llanthony Priory (01720g). There are also possible medieval lynchets in the fields on hillside above the farm (Procter 2018).

The farmhouse was in a state of dereliction when acquired in 2014 by the Landmark Trust in 2014, who undertook a £4.2m (including £2.5m of HLF funding) restoration of the site, which is now a holiday home (Morriss 2020).
