A War Memorial located at the historic centre of Abercarn village, a cenotaph of white stone commemorates the dead of the First World War. (01)

A memorial designed by J.H. Highley and unveiled in 1923. The memoriaol consists of a female figure holding a wreath of laurels and blowing a trumpet with the words "Gwell Angau Na Chywilydd" (Better Death than Dishonour). (Crawford 2014).
