Primary Reference Number (PRN) : 08244w
Trust : Glamorgan Gwent
Community : Landore
Unitary authority : Swansea
NGR : SS66109516
Site Type (preferred type first) : POST MEDIEVAL INDUSTRIAL BUILDING

Summary :
A north - south aligned building on the Morfa Copper Works site, first shown on the OS Ed I map (1879) and built within the enclosure described by the Morfa Copper Works revetment wall (PRN 08243w). Its link to the adjacent canal basin (PRN 08238w) suggests its use for transfering material from the canal basin to the works.

Description :
A building on the Morfa Copper Works site, first shown on the OS Ed I map (1879) and built within the enclosure described by the Morfa Copper Works revetment wall (PRN 08243w). The building was aligned north - south.

The building had gone by 1919 but its form can be seen on the remaining 6m southern arm of the revetment wall, aligned east - west. This suggests the building was of red brick, aisled on both sides with clerestories above. The depiction on the map of railway lines entering the east side suggests its use for transfering material from the canal basin (PRN 08238w) to the works.

A later works plan shows the site occupied by baths in 1943.
