Summary : Unveiled on 4th November 1921 and designed by Gilbert Ledward RGA as a WW1 Memorial for the Monmouthsire Regiment. Cast by AB Burton Founder of Thames Ditton and paid for by public subscription. The standing soldier is leaning on an upturned Lee Enfiel
Description : Unveiled on 4th November 1921 and designed by Gilbert Ledward RGA as a WW1 Memorial for the Monmouthsire Regiment. Cast by AB Burton Founder of Thames Ditton and paid for by public subscription. The standing soldier is leaning on an upturned Lee Enfield rifle and is dressed in full battle kit with sling and tin hat. Granite pedestal set on a concrete platform. To the front the memorial is inscribed: 'To the Officers, NCO's and Men of the 3rd Battalion Monmouthshire Regiment who fell in the Great War.' WW2 inscription added to the back.
