Summary :
Small early C19th stone arched bridge with integral sluice and weir. It has a parapet of ogee-moulded copper-slag blocks.

Description :
Small early C19th stone arched bridge with integral weir on the River Clydach. It has a parapet of ogee-moulded copper-slag blocks and two arches. It has an integral sluice (with surviving gate) and weir. The sluice appears to have been the starting point of a leat that is shown on the 1st edn OS 25" map as running southwards down the west bank of the river in the direction of the blast furnaces.

Part of the infrastructure to the Neath Abbey Ironworks. The tramroad it carried seems to have continued westwards up the side of the ravine (line now followed by the modern path) to the top of the blast-furnaces. Course of tramroad on east bank of river uncertain.
