Summary :
George Yate's map of Glamorganshire dated 1799 indicates a forge at this NGR. No remains of a forge exist but there is evidence of an iron works owned by Cefn Cribwr Iron Company during the second half of the 19th century.

George Yate's map of Glamorganshire dated 1799 indicates a forge at this NGR. No remains of a forge exist but there is evidence of an iron works owned by Cefn Cribwr Iron Company during the second half of the 19th century.

It has been suggested that the forge shown on the 1799 map refers to the building later to become the Plough public house. If it was a forge it was likely served by Ffos Brook. (Wilkinson P F, 1992)
