Description :
In the N part of the area [of the land granted to the brethern of Pendar] is a site called Capel Fanhalog, a corruption of Capel Fynachlog (ST05119474) (RCAHMW 1982, 295-6).

Jones (1954, 188) notes a well called Ffynnon y Fan Halog in Llanwonno parish; one of his Class E 'miscellaneous wells which possess a name of possible significance, or concerning which legends and traditions have survived'.

Pierce (2001) disputes the place name evidence and suggests instead an origin of name of farm may be Y Fanhadlog to reflect local vegetation, and that the historic chapel's location is elsewhere.

Pierce (2002, 72-4) rejects this derivation (although he accepts the neighbouring Mynachty as significant to the grange).
