Summary :
One of three fishponds at the southern and eastern sides of the outer precinct of Llanthony Priory. This example is one of a pair in the field that also contains the dovecote.

Description :
One of three fishponds (A, B, C - 01732g-01734g) within the outer precinct of Llanthony Priory. It is one of the two described by OS fieldworkers (OS card SO 22NE), as being 'at the foot of the Plock (OS field no.534), near the pigeon house' (PRN 01731g).

The middle pond (C) (which does not, as shown on the OS sheet, touch the road but lies some 4 yards to the east of pond B) [and is] c100[?]ft x 25 ft wide and 6 ft deep: it has high retaining banks. C: A steep-sided nettle-filled depression which averages 1.0m deep. (OS card SO 22 NE/Monm 1 SE 1.11). Possibly modified in 19th century (Procter 2007, 52).
