Summary :
c.1415-1560 house with c.1600 addition.

Description :
Medieval cruck trussed house with addition of a stone building which is now a cow shed. The addition is likely to date to about 1600 (Fox & Raglan 1954).

Building to the west of the Moat (01627g) (Locock and Maynard 2015).

Possibly the site of the medieval manor house (and church?) of Redcastle. Original three-storey high-status farmhouse in ruin and long unoccupied when demolished in 1951, to make way for modern farm buildings. Old house had stone staircase behind the fireplace. Grade II listed late 17th century barn at nearby Treveddw Farm. James family have lived at Treveddw Farm since the 1860s (Procter 2018). Associated with Llanthony Priory.
