Primary Reference Number (PRN) : 11827 Trust : Gwynedd Community : Holyhead Unitary authority : Ynys Mon NGR : SH2490082780 Site Type (preferred type first) : POST MEDIEVAL SAW MILL Status : Listed Building II
Description : This is housed in the same building as PRN 11824, where the exterior is described. The saw mill is not in current use. It contains a half loft at the NE end, and the SW side is occupied with large racks for storing timber. There is a narrow gauge track running parallel to the NW wall with a reciprocating saw over, with a narrower gauge track running to the south. The saw was made by Robinson of Rochdale, and was last powered by an electric motor via a belt drive. Originally the power would have come from drive shafts driven by the steam engine housed in the adjoining room. (Donald Insall Associates Ltd., 2003).
