Summary :
The first canal to be built in Wales c.1766-8. Use declined towards the end of 18th century although most was later incorporated in the Kidwelly and Llanelly canal. The scheduled part is the eastern end of the canal where the southern bank carried a contemporary tramroad (and later a railway siding) PRN 30862. At the terminus was a small turning bay or dock, now showing as an earthwork in the field to the north. JH based on CADW 1997.
