Summary :
Limekiln comprising double drawholes fed by central pot. Intact pot c.2.5m diam., fenced for safety. Drawhole tunnel openings c.1.5m w x 1.5m h, leading to intact drawholes. Entire structure c. 6.5m long x 4m high.

Description :
Limekiln of the characteristic Wye Valley type dating to the 19th century, comprising double drawholes fed by a central pot. The kiln is built into the bank to the south of its associated quarry (PRN 7134g). Intact pot c.2.5m diam., fenced for safety. Drawhole tunnel openings c.1.5m wide x 1.5m high leading to intact drawholes. Entire structure measures c6.5m long x 4m high. There are small waste tips in front of the kiln, and a graded ramp leads up to the charging platform, running parallel with the sunken track into the quarry. Designated of national importance as an exceptionally complete limekiln of a characteristic regional type with associated earthworks and quarry.
