Summary :
Intact square stone built ventilation chimney 6m high & 2m wide. Arched entrance to the South measuring 6m from entrance to the back. Associated Levels and shafts within close proximity.

Description :
A well preserved 19th century square stone built ventilation furnace, with chimney measuring 6m high & 2m wide. Arched entrance to the south of the furnace measuring 6m from entrance to the back. The furnace formerly housed a brazier for ventilating a nearby drift mine. The collapsed entry to a level (PRN 3980w) is immediately adjacent, with the base of a small haulage engine in front of it, and there is a small, well vegetated coal tip downhill; all of which are included in the scheduled area. Designated of national importance as a well preserved example of early mine ventilation technology.
