Summary :
Coity Mawr Quarry, which operated pre 1844 to supply stone building stone for Blaenavon Iron and Coal company housing and works, was excavated into two terraces from the north east into the outcrop of Pennant Sandstone. Waste tips are situated at SO233300851 and SO23330826, secondary waste tips are situated at SO23260828 and SO23310826 and a trampath extends north east through the centre of the quarry to the incline at SO23330833. The site comprises quarry buildings, colliery air shaft, self-acting incline, and incline pulley and colliery ?sheaves (Industrial Landscape Survey 1980).
