Summary :
Coal and Ironstone level excavated on an outcrop of the Old Coal Seam and the Bottom Vein ironstone by Aaron Brute, some time between 1812 and his death in 1818. The arched mouth of the level (disused by 1843) was formed by dressed stone voussoirs.

Description :
Coal and Ironstone level excavated on an outcrop of the Old Coal Seam and the Bottom Vein ironstone by Aaron Brute, some time between 1812 and his death in 1818.
The arched mouth of the level (disused by 1843) was formed by dressed stone voussoirs though si now largely obscured by dumped spoil.
A cutting runs NE from the level mouth to an iron tramroad bridge (4618G), built before 1832, associated with the level.
