Description :
Dovecote standing in a rough outer part of the farm garden to the south-east of Hygga farmhouse. It is a circular building 5m in diameter, and is probably of late-16th century date. Its red sandstone rubble walls, 1m thick x 4m high, were once topped with a conical roof of stone tiles which has since been replaced with a reconstructed oak roof. Nesting boxes line the interior of the structure. The wall is pierced by two stone mullioned windows, and a stone doorway. When visited in 1958 it was described to be in a fair condition, but underwent general refurbishment in the 1980s due to its deteriorating state.
