Description :
Nantgarw pottery; red brick buildings and kilns in ruins on the E bank of the Glamorganshire canal, established 1813, works' house still standing. DAT Assessment 1995 records details of kiln II at the site.

Kiln II was dismantled and re-built in 1995; this process suggested a later build date of early 1860's to early 1870's evident in their use in the construction of the kiln The kiln comprised two elements: a square base containing flues and fire-boxes, and a circular superstructure comprising the remains of the oven and bottle-chimney. A workshop also surrounded the kiln (Murphy 1995).
