Description :
A grass-covered mound with hollow in middle forming a very small clearing within planting close to a ride. There is a hollow 3.5m across, c0.6m deep; stones can mostly be felt rather than seen around it, but the single one visible was sandstone. The edges mostly not particularly clear, but measurement given by RCAHMW for diameter (12.2m) seems to be an over-estimate, unless the cairn has been damaged since. 9.2m diameter; c1.5m high GGAT 72 Prehistoric Funerary and Ritual Sites survey 2001.

(1956) The barrow is 11.0m in diameter and 1.6m high with a hollow in the top 3.0m in diameter and 1.0m deep. It is within an afforested area but has not been ploughed or planted with conifers. There is no visible surrounding ditch. (Source 03 )
(1959) A 25'' survey has been made (Source 04 )
(1963/1976) Ergyd Uchaf, E of Port Talbot, at 300m above O.D. on level ground, now under forest. A circular grass grown mound, 12.2m in diameter and 1.2m high. A central hollow , in which stones are visible, is doubtless the result of robbing. (Source 02 )
(1982) A round cairn . Turf covered with much stone visible in the excavation hollow at the centre. Situated in a clearing within a FC plantation. (Source 05)
(1986) As described, grass covered with some rushes in clearing in forestry. Large trees overhang the cairn on all sides ploughing within two metres of the mound. ( Source 06 )
(1991) The site is basically unchanged. Stone content of the cairn would seem to be stopping the grass on it from growing. (Source 08 )
(1997) The trees have grown considerably. Ploughing especially close on the south. No change to the mound. (Source 09 )
