Summary :
The larger of a pair of cairns (5073w), the other being PRN 742w. A large roughly circular grass-covered mound; dug out in the centre forming a hole 5.8m across and c 1.0m deep. Composed of sandstone slabs c0.1-03m across. GGAT 72

Description :
The larger of a pair of cairns (5073w), the other 15m to the north-east being PRN 742w(SAM GM 160b). A large roughly circular grass-covered mound; dug out in the centre forming a hole 5.8m across and c 1.0m deep. Composed of sandstone slabs c0.1-03m across. In a small unploughed enclave on one side of an arable field, with a boundary fence running though the NE side 15.2m diameter, height c1.5m GGAT 72 Prehistoric Funerary and Ritual Sites survey 2001.

(1956) A stony grass covered round barrow without a surrounding ditch. Diameter of 17.0m, height 2.0m . There is a hollow in the centre 5.0m in diameter and 1.6m deep. ( Source 06 )
(1963/1976) Ergyd Isaf, on a moorland summit E of Port Talbot at 260m above O.D. The earthern cross at SS 7924 8818, like the pillow mounds further W, is probably medieval or later. A grass grown circular mound, 16.8m in diameter and 1.8m high. A large central hollow 1.2m deep, probably the result of robbing, shows the mound to be composed of stones and earth. ( Source 01 )
(1977) As RCAHM , surveyed at 1 : 2500 ( Source 03 )
(1986) The mound is basically as described. A fence .large sheep scrape on the S .. 10cm depth of soil seen. The cairn occupies a commanding hilltop position and is intervisible with a number of others in the area. ( Source 04 )
(1991) Sheep scrape much worse. The section exposed appears to be mostly sand but with some stoniness towards the top. Sheep have caused some wear on the ridge around the top of the mound, but the material revealed is all stony. (source 05 )
