Description :
Please note that some of the sources contain information that, as yet, has not been included in this description field. This will be updated in due course.
This highly eroded cairn is a member of the Lower Hale Wood Round Barrow Cemetery. (1982) OS workers described a circular cairn much robbed for road metal situated in dense woodland, and at the time of the present visit the cairn is in much the same state. The cairn is circular in form with a well-defined perimeter; there is some migration of the mound to the E but the sides still remain quite steep and the mound quite high. The centre of the cairn has been removed to ground level and the SW side has been robbed away to leave a flattened access route to the interior. The mound's remaining sides are heavily forested and comprise limestone boulders. To the NE of the mound is a low small oval cairn (3m x 1.4m) which is most likely a modern spoil heap.
Dimensions: diameter 22m E-W height; 2m N-E-W
(1987) Three large limestone cairns:
a. c80ft diameter, 5ft high, very heavily robbed, probably for its limestone.
b. 50ft diameter, 4ft high.
c. 30ft diameter, 1ft6" high. (Source 04)

(1992) It was not possible to confirm the description of these barrows as a. and c. are situated in coniferous plantation and although it is not possible to walk about below the trees, everything is coated in a thick blanket of needles. There was stone scattered throughout the forest and some in concentrations which could have been ciarns. Cairn b. is situated in more open wood, on the other side of the road from a. and c., had a dense layer of bracken covering the ground. Located a position that may have been a barrow but no features confirm it. (Source 06)
