This paper mill in the Whitebrook valley was built c1760. It was the first paper mill in the valley and was worked for over a hundred years, until around 1875. The mill used steam powered by a turbine engine, which was replaced by a larger engine in 1869. In addition to the steam engine the mill also had an overshot water wheel and a water turbine. Part of the turbine pipe survives in the road wall opposite the site. The mill is now ruinous, except for its associated chimney (PRN 7971g) which is Listed Grade II. Tank also noted to the south west.
