Description :
Pair of platforms on east bank of stream, wellformed rectangular platforms, 8m x 4m and 6m x 3m. DRS Site Visit: 1999. GGAT 65 Deserted Rural Settlements in Glamorgan and Gwent (2001).

The site includes two house platforms and, a short distance from these, a sunken shelter or storage clamp. The platforms lie at 90 degrees to the prevailing slope, measuring 10 x 6m and 9 x 5m, with well-defined hoods and aprons (information partly from Cadw AM 107 report). There are no structural remains.A short distance to the north-east is a small sunken feature, obscured by dead bracken, measuring about 2 m x 3 m. The Cadw AM 107 report recorded an entrance in its western side facing towards the platform house 00662W. Interpretation of its function is by no means clear; it was possibly a vegetable storage clamp, or some sort of animal shelter, presumably associated with the settlement nearby. GGAT 67 Tir Gofal HE2 (1999-2000).
