Description :
In grounds of Cwrt Sart Comprehensive School, reset on a concrete foundation. A massive slab of sandstone with its widest faces E and W; parallelogram in plan; in elevation sides taper slightly to a squared top. The E face is the flattest, and shows clear signs of pecking over much of its surface - ?reworked; a lesser amount of pecking on E side; N and S sides show bedding planes. c3m high x 1.75m (max with) x 0.8m (S end) GGAT 72 Prehistoric Funerary and Ritual Sites survey 2001.

(1956) The stone is situated on low lying ground in a school playground. It is 2.7m high , 0.9m wide and 0.7m thick. It is much weathered and set in a concrete block. The stone is on the top of a low mound which appears to spread beneath the surrounding school buildings. It is probably ' in situ ' with the concrete base as a re- inforcement. The name suggests that the stone was in the area of Court Sart Farm, but no trace was found of a standing stone and no information was obtained concerning it. The area is under development as a housing estate. This stone may be the Garreg Hir stone one half mile to the east. ( Source 02 )
(1964/1976) Carreg Hir, at Briton Ferry, at 12m above OD. The stone is now set in a concrete plinth 0.3m high, in a school playground. It is a large upright slab with a blunt ridged top, 2.8m high above the plinth, 1.7m wide, and 0.8m thick at the S end and 0.5m at the N end. ( Source 01 )
(1986) Natural boulder of Pennant sandstone, 10ft 6'' x 10'' x 2ft at base, probably set up in the early or middle Bronze Age.Monuments of this class are rare in Glam. except in the Gower peninsula. The stone has a generally blackened appearance, with some painted and scratched graffiti . There is no sign of any mound. ( Source 07 )
(1991) The stone appears completely unchanged. ( Source 10 )
(1997) Still unchanged , as seen in 1986 and 1991 ( Source 11 )
(2017) Watching brief and photographic record taking during nearby demolition works. Graffiti recorded (Toseland and Clements 2017)
