Description :
One of a monument complex (PRN 5067w) consisting of two cairns (PRNs 562w, 563w) and a kerb circle (PRN561w). The kerb circle consists of a ring of eathfast sandstone slabs set near-vertical but leaning slightly outwards; eighteen remain standing (most on the S side), five have fallen, and there are gaps where stones have completely disappeared. The tallest stone is 0.5m high and the longest 1.2m long. There are two slabs lying loose and flat in the middle of the circle. One upright slab of similar dimensions is set slightly in from the circle at the NE side and a hole has been dug between this slab and the line of the ring nearest to it; this may represent the remains of a cist. Around the outside of the stone ring are the slight remains of a possible bank, but this is difficult to assess because of the heavy reed cover; in 1962 RCAHMW noted it as being c1.5m where its survived, and its does not appear to have changed significantly from what is shown on their measured plan. 12.4m diameter, max height 0.5m GGAT 72 Prehistoric Funerary and Ritual Sites survey 2001.

(1962 /1976) 270 m above O.D. The site has been carefully chosen on level ground at the brink of a sharp fall to the N.W. A cairn circle consisting of about twenty slabs, apparently duplicated in places, forming an oval 11.9 m long from N.E. to S.W. by 10.7 m wide. Several other slabs must have stood on the W. but are now missing. The survivors are all placed on edge but lean outwards, in so consistent a manner that it seems an original feature of the construction, but on the N. some have been thrown down.None of the slabs exceeds 0.4 m in height. Against the outer face of the ring are traces of a slight bank about 1.5 m wide, with perhaps an outer kerb of stones partly buried. This is not everywhere preserved, and is notably absent on the edge of the cliff on the N.W., where however it may have fallen away. The interior of the cairn is level and contains a few scattered stones, and on the E. a modern excavated hollow, possibly occupying the position of a damaged cist. (1982) Round cairn on Carn Caca, scheduled ( Source 03 )
(1985) Cairn circle enclosing a slightly oval area c 12m x 11m , comprising a circle of stone slabs. A small hollow in the interior may mark the site of an attempt at excavation. Area inside ring flat. Difficult to decide whether the site is a ring cairn or has been robbed, but if the latter it is difficult to understand why the stones of the cairn circle were not taken. The site occupies a commanding position on the edge of an escarpment with views to the NW. The stone probably comes from the immediate vicinity, with outcrops being exposed immediately to the NE forming a small escarpment. There are also traces of a small disused quarry between this and No. 112 . ( Source 07 )
(1991) No change to the site . It lies in rough pasture . ( Source 11 )
(1997) Unchanged. ( Source 12 )
