Summary :
The site comprises a small square earthwork (19.5x18.3m) with rounded corners. One of two on the Hirfynydd ridge between Neath and Coelbren, on the line of Sarn Helen. Unexcavated, but generally interpreted as a Roman signal station.

Description :
A small square earthwork enclosure with rounded corners, the more northerly of two on the Hirfynydd ridge between Neath and Coelbren, on the line of Sarn Helen, the other being known as Rheola Forest. It measures 19.5x18.3m between the crests of the rampart, which is 1.8-3.7m wide, surviving to a maximum height of 0.9m. The ditch is 2.7m-3.1m wide, interrupted by a causeway 3.7m wide on the side facing the road (the south-east), and there are no signs of internal structures. This site has not been excavated.
