Description :
In a small clearing 11m S of a forest ride. Ring of stone 1.2m wide, almost completely obscured by vegetation growth; therefore no attempt was made to estimate height. The robbed cairn on the S side mentioned in the 1979 description could not be seen. There appears to be a gap in the ring c2m wide on E side, and the ground level inside the ring seems slightly lower than that outside. Stones consist of angular ?limestone rubble, mainly c0.20m/0.30m across, but including at least one larger stone 0.55x0.45m. Dimensions: 7.4m total diameter
(1953) A approximately circular area with many loose stones and slight traces of a turf-covered circular bank 0.1m high. A doubtful cairn in view of its indefinite nature and the close proximity of small surface quarries and outcrop stone. (Source 01)
(1960/1976) A ring of stones 11.9m in diameter, almost robbed away, is all that remains of what was probably a cairn. (Source 02)
(1961) Stones larger than those of 489m, and give the impression of having been gathered rather than merely exposed by weathering. The area they cover makes a regular circular figure with a generally well defined perimeter. It is considered to be a probable burial cairn, although it is too badly robbed for certain identification. (Source 01)
(1979) A probable ring cairn inconspicuously sited on a saddle in recently afforested moorland. The feature comprises a partly vegetation-covered circular band of small stones, diameter 12m, width 2m, set to ground level, with a stone-free gap 2.5m wide (?entrance) on the E side. Probing indicates a stone-clear interior. Contiguous with the inner S side of the ring is a small robbed cairn 4m in diameter and up to 0.5m high; material from the mound has been thrown to the SW side. Bilberry growth enhances the circular stone features, in sharp contrast to the flat grassy centre. (Source 03)
