Summary :
Loose heap of stone, with an irregular spread out from the SW, edges overgrown by vegetation. Composed mainly of red sandstone blocks but with some white quartz conglomerate, mainly up to 0.4m across but with some larger blocks. One large slab 1.0x0.7m

Description :
Loose heap of stone, with an irregular spread out from the SW, edges overgrown by vegetation. Composed mainly of red sandstone blocks but with some white quartz conglomerate, mainly up to 0.4m across but with some larger blocks. One large slab 1.0x0.7m near centre may be a capstone, but there is no other sign of a cist. Stones in SW have been built up into a chimney-shaped structure (this is the only point at which the height rises to more than 1m). In a clearing at the junction between two rides. Dimensions: 14m; max height 1.0m
(1953) Cairn with a diameter of 14.5m and a height of 1.1m, with no trace of cist or ditch. (Source 01)
(1960/1976) Cairn 15.9m in diameter and 1.2m high, built of medium-sized boulders. (Source 04)
(1979 A conspicuous cairn, extensively strewn by modern disturbance. A free-lying slab 1.0x0.7x0.1m, within the central area, may have originally formed part of a cist. An excavation (?) trench 2.0m wide cuts right through the SW margin. Within an afforested area. (Source 02)
(1985) A circular cairn of large stones heaped in an irregular mound, 14m in diameter. Maximum height is c 1.5m. There are signs of disturbance on the west side, which has a semi-circular bite out of it, and on the inside which has two hollows, c 1m deep. Around the outside is a low bilberry-covered bank. (Source 03)
