Description :
The visible remains occupy the field in which is the church (Scheduled ancient ancient monument: MM154).
SW of the church a hollow way crosses the field, running parallel with its SW edge. A branch curves N towards the church. There are 4, possibly more, mounds marking the sites of buildings. The 2 best defined ones are E of the church.

The deserted village is situated in a large pasture field in the valley of the small St. Brides brook, which runs along the E boundary of the field. The scheduled area has been extended to include earthworks which continue in the field to the N.

In addition, digital APs and LiDAR also show an extensive area of ploughed earthwork remains (lynchets, R&F, etc) beyond the scheduled area, extending S to Castle Coch Field System (NPRN 405806) and beyond. These include the remains of a Hollow way which continues S of that noted in the scheduled area itself. Recent APs show DMV features extending beyond scheduled area. Also, LiDAR has revealed a good number of DMV-type structures to the west of Netherwent under permanent woodland bordering the Caerwent military range (Roberts 2015).

This site was visited by GGAT in 2017 during a walkover survey (E007424). An E to W linear feature visible on Aerial Photographs was noted, which consisted of a ditch flanked by linear mound/banks on each side. It was determined that these features require detailed survey/investigation in future. (Roberts 2017)
