Summary :
A block of sandstone of rectangular outline apart from a batter on the lower half of the E side; widest faces to N and S, with E and W sides tapering in towards top; the stone leans to S and W. The N and S faces appear to have been pecked. GGAT 72

Description :
A block of stone of sandstone of rectangular outline apart from a batter on the lower half of the E side; widest faces to N and S, with E and W sides tapering in towards top; the stone leans to S and W. The N and S faces appear to have been pecked, but this may be purely the surface of the bedding planes of the stone. In a grass plot at the side of the road outside the Bon-y-maen public house. Base width 1.2m, top 0.85m; ht 1.4m; 0.45 thick GGAT 72 Prehistoric Funerary and Ritual Sites survey 2001. (1956) The stone is situated on fairly high ground but is below the crest of a slight hillock.It is in a built up area. The stone is at the junction of two old field banks and has a height above ground level of 1.3m . It is 1.2m wide by 0.5m thick. It has a lean to the south. No trace was found of a mound or of other associated stones. The stone is well weathered. ( Source 02 )
(1961/1976) At Bon - y - maen , E. of Swansea, at 85 m above O.D. A sandstone monolith, leaning slightly to the S.; 1.3 m high, with base 1.2 m by 0.5 m. ( Source 01 )
(1985) Signs of spray graffiti .( Source 06 )
(1989) The stone appears much as before. ( Source 07 )
(1997) The stone appears unchanged with no serious new graffiti or other damage. ( Source 08 )
