Description :
An oval cairn situated in dense forestry surrounded by a low earthen bank and possible inner ditch to the W and a natural false crest to the E; no ditch was evident outside of the low earthen bank. Inside the low earthen bank the cairn has an irregularly defined perimeter no visible kerbstones, the centre of the cairn is defined by an excavated hollow most probably the main burial however no cist was evident. The mound stands 0.95m high in the centre, is composed of boulder sized stone (0.2m-0.6m), and has gradually sloping sides to the base of the raised bank to the W and the lip of the false crest to the E. Two large stones are located to the exterior of the N raised bank and to the SSE edge of 141g perimeter.
Dimensions: diameter 16.5m; height 0.95m
(1957) Group of four cairns (with 138-9G and 141G).
140G (ST 25109272): Cairn with a diameter of 18m and height of 1m, including a modern replacement of stone in an elongated mound orientated in a NE-SW irection. This is on top of the original cairn whose lower slopes are grass covered. (Source 01)
