Summary :
Rectangular block of quartzite with long sides to the NW and SE; top pointed, with point at SW side. On a much less pronounced slope than PRN 86w. Now in a hedgerow with a footpath passing alongside. 1.5m NE-SW x 0.8m, 3.2m high GGAT 72

Description :
Rectangular block of quartzite with long sides to the NW and SE; top pointed, with point at SW side. On a much less pronounced slope than PRN 86w. Now in a hedgerow with a footpath passing alongside. 1.5m NE-SW x 0.8m, 3.2m high GGAT 72 Prehistoric Funerary and Ritual Sites survey 2001.

(1956) The stone is situated on low lying ground and has been incorporated in a modern field boundary. It is 3.2m high, 1.5m wide at base, and 0.8m thick.It has a pointed top. There is no trace of an associated mound or of other stones in the vicinity. (Source 04)
(1961 /1976) Mansel Jack or Sampson's Jack, W of Llanrhidian in Gower, at 75m above OD, now incorporated in a field bank. The stone, a quartz conglomerate, is 3.2m high, rising to a blunt point; its base measures 1.5m by 0.8m. (Source 01 )
(1971) Standing stone known locally as ' Samson's Jack ' . Survey correct. (Source 06 )
(1985) Has become rather overgrown since RCAHMW photo , ivy on one side. (Source 09 )
(1989) Some ivy removed, no damage to the stone, basically still as described. ( Source 11 )
(1996) The stone is in good condition , ivy thoroughly dead, stone visible for its whole height on the NW. ( Source 13 )
