Description :
Grass-covered mound composed mainly of small thin pieces of sandstone (mostly < 0.3m); one large slab at S side might possibly be the remains of a kerb. Edges of mound ill-defined; two large shallow cuttings and one smaller one in S side; modern cairn on top, and smaller construction to W. Monument Warden description of 1986 notes a ditch on the N side; this was not apparent. There is a slight cutting on the N slope of the mound, but this is a later disturbance rather than a ditch. Dimensions: 13.3m diameter; c 1.0m high
(1956) The cairn is mutilated and has a diameter of 15.0m with a maximum height of 1.2m. The lower slopes are grass- and turf-covered. (Source 02)
(1962/1976) On the broad almost level top of a ridge. The cairn is a stony mound 15.5m in diameter and 0.9m high. There is a small modern cairn on top and the surface of the mound has been much disturbed by small casual excavations. (Source 01)
(1986) The cain stands in a commanding position on the top of the ridge. It is turf-covered, 14m in diameter and 1.7m high. A small cairn has been built on the top and on the south side there are several disturbance hollows, c0.4m deep and 1-3m in diameter. Stones are lying on the surface in these hollows and in the middle of the cairn. On the north side there is a slight ditch c 2m wide and 0.2m deep. (Source 05)
