Description : In a heavily wooded area at SH 501853, traces of a complex of structures including at least one well preserved hut circle and two sectors of linear walling. (Livens, 1965)
A hut circle at SH 50088547, and an enclosure and rectangular structure at SH 50148546 are probably the features referred to by Livens.
The hut circle is some 8.0m in diameter and has a rubble filled double wall 1.2m thick and up to 0.8m high. An entrance in the NE is 2.0m wide. Condition: good.
Some 60.09m to the E, are the remains of a sub-rectangular enclosure, 26.0m NE-SW, by 15.0m, narrowing to 10.0m at the NE end which is open.
Midway along the SW side is an external rectangular structure, 60m by 3.0m with no apparent entrance. The walls are in poor condition, consisting of large boulders up to 0.3m high, and presumably contemporary with the main structure. Perhaps Romano British. Surveyed at 1:2500. <2>
