Description : North weir consists of a stone built wall with a series of iron-grid trap outlets. Surmounted on the wall is a stone railing imitative of an earlier wooden railing. The present fish traps appear to be C19th although fishing has been carried out on this site since at least the C16th. The Smoke Tower is probably C19th and was used for smoking the fish catch. <1> <2>

It was not possible to visit the site as part of the survey. Site already scheduled. Description from SMR, F.M.Davies and Senogles. A unique weir comprising two stone built arms forming a rough double V (the island forms the central part) with iron grid trap sluices. The wall is surmounted by an iron railing imitative of an earlier wooden railing. The fish are caught behind two ramps by the force of the tide. Built in an unusual situation, this trap could be seen as a heavily modified Class E trap. It does, however, incorporate many unique features that set it apart from other traps of this type. (Hopewell, 2000).
