Description : Maen Hir, 200yds SW of the church, leaning at angle of 45 degrees to N of schist, 8ft long by 2ft square. Condition: considerably inclined. (RCAHMW, 1937)
A standing stone 2.6m high by 0.67m by 0.60m. It stands in a grass field SSW of Llanddyfnan church. The stone used to be leaning at quite an acute angle, but was set upright some years ago, when road was widened. <2>
Mentioned by Lynch. <3>
As described in <2>. <4>
On a fairly level area although there are quite good views of the mountains to the south. Presuming the stone was re-erected exactly as before, its best faces face to the N & to S, perhaps facing onto the routeway. Recent cultivation has left the soil surface bare but there are no flints to be seen. (Smith, 2003)
