Substantial blocky slab of pale brown igneous rock with many quartz veins. Somewhat narrower at base but otherwise roughly rectangular. Small stones scattered around base but otherwise no packing stones visible. Tapers slightly widthways. Siting: on gentle slope above Malltraeth Marsh. Only a few metres above marsh and adjacent to railway line which obscures view to N & E making comments on setting a little limited. (Smith, 2003)
Maen-hir near the railway embankment 2/3m S of the church (OS 6in XXII NW). A rough schist stone 8'-3" high by 4ft wide by 3ft thick. <8>
